Day 14 - Not just any day at the beach!

Playa Colomitos, a tiny hidden cove located on the south side of the Bahía de Banderas, is well worth the hike from Boca de Tomatlán. What a great way to spend the day. We hiked along the path which follows the coastline at the bottom of the Sierra Madre mountains after walking through the tiny village of Boca and crossing the Horcones River to the start of the hiking trail. The beautiful hiking trail (some well-worn paths and stairs to begin with and then narrow dirt trails, rocks and roots) passes under a canopy of beautiful mixed vegetation including Plumerias (one of my favourites), Palms, Strangling Ficuses and assorted other trees. Butterfies greeted us at every turn.

An enchanting cove to relax the day away and then enjoy a fantastic dinner at the nearby restaurant, Ocean Grill (by reservation only).  A perfect day!

More to come on the small village of Boca de Tomatlán, the hike to Playa Colomitos and Ocean Grill in future posts.Playa Colomitos_C05669.jpg

About

Welcome to my travel photo blog. Photography has been a part of my life for a long time – back in the day the Pentax Super Program was always near at hand. But it wasn’t until I started travelling around the world that photography became a vehicle for me to show others about the absolutely amazing and complex world we live in. My hope is to share with you glimpses of what I’ve seen. Enjoy!
