Close-up of the Phra Prang Sam Yod residents

The troop of Macaques (aka long-tailed monkey) inhabiting Lopburi numbers in the range of 2,000 and many congregate at the Phra Prang Sam Yod site. There is an annual Monkey Buffet Festival held every November at which the locals put on a lavish banquet (complete with buffet tables loaded with exotic and expensive fruits, sweets and veggies) - a way for the locals to show their appreciation and thanks to the macaques for attracting visitors to the region. The macaques are given free reign of the area - they are everywhere so it’s best to be aware of your surroundings - they love to snatch cameras, purses, food etc. But you have to admit, they’re kinda cute!Upload from February 19, 2012Upload from February 19, 2012

About

Welcome to my travel photo blog. Photography has been a part of my life for a long time – back in the day the Pentax Super Program was always near at hand. But it wasn’t until I started travelling around the world that photography became a vehicle for me to show others about the absolutely amazing and complex world we live in. My hope is to share with you glimpses of what I’ve seen. Enjoy!
