Ban Jalae Village and Huay Mae Sai Waterfall
Posted by viw on August 6, 2012
Oops, missed this post earlier while still in the Chiang Rai region of northern Thailand before visiting Mae Sai and the Golden Triangle region.
The day started out with a boat ride along the Mae Kok River from Chiang Rai, followed by a 1.5 hour elephant ride through the gorgeous Thai countryside, through rice fields and jungle to Ban Jalae Akha and Lahu village and later, visiting a waterfall in a nearby national park.
After a long ride atop the elephants, a visit to Ban Jalae - a village approximately 20 kms. northwest of Chiang Rai. Visiting the homes of some of the villagers and getting a close-up look at daily life was a fantastic opportunity.
Following the visit to the village, a fifteen minute hike from Ban Jalae up to see Huay Mae Sai waterfall. An opportunity to cool off before heading back to Chiang Rai for the night.
