Peru - What makes Sunday in Pisac special.

I knew this was going to be a special day.  It was Sunday and I was going to the market.  The Sunday Market in Pisac to be exact.

I love markets and have seen some amazing markets in the world in my travels.

Although markets are held in Pisac every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, it is the Sunday market that brings out the locals and those from the surrounding communities to do their weekly shopping. It also brings out the tourists and is probably Peru’s second tourist draw behind that of Machu Picchu.

I hadn’t even entered the market when these two smiling children approached. Adorable! Then came along the sweetest elderly gentleman with his hand extended to me.  I knew it was going to be a great day at the market!

The market was a busy hub of activity as the neighbouring communities descended on Pisac to do their weekly shopping and trading goods.

If these hands could talk, what a story they would tell.

About

Welcome to my travel photo blog. Photography has been a part of my life for a long time – back in the day the Pentax Super Program was always near at hand. But it wasn’t until I started travelling around the world that photography became a vehicle for me to show others about the absolutely amazing and complex world we live in. My hope is to share with you glimpses of what I’ve seen. Enjoy!
