The Urubamba Valley is probably better known to most as the Sacred Valley of the Incas - “El Valle Sagrado de los Incas”. Many important ancient Inca ruins including Tipon, Pisac, Moray, Chincheros and Ollantaytambo dot the gentle sloping Andes mountains with tiny villages and farms scattered throughout the valley. This drive will take us closer to Machu Picchu but there are still more towns and Inca ruins to see first.
The Incas revered this valley and it’s easy to understand why - it is absolutely stunning. Around every bend in the road is another amazing view. Cadmium green valleys hug deep rusty-red sloping mountains. I was simply awed by the beauty. Sorry, running out of adjectives to describe the Valley so have a look for yourself.
