Peru - food sampling

One of my favorite things when travelling is to be able to check out the food carts along the streets. This gorgeous fruit cart was near the condo in Miraflores - usually passed it on our morning walks near the cliffs.

Along the streets of Cusco, we found these shops selling meat, potatoes and corn. It smelled delicious.

And of course, there were the fancy breads - chuta. I was told that a person would buy one of these if you were planning to drop by someone’s home for a visit. Each large bread is decorated differently and I’ve heard there’s healthy competition out there to see who can design the best chuta!
A great article here on the history and traditions of the chuta bread.

About

Welcome to my travel photo blog. Photography has been a part of my life for a long time – back in the day the Pentax Super Program was always near at hand. But it wasn’t until I started travelling around the world that photography became a vehicle for me to show others about the absolutely amazing and complex world we live in. My hope is to share with you glimpses of what I’ve seen. Enjoy!
